Legal Assistant

Summary: Legal Assistant is responsible for providing secretarial assistance to attorneys in all aspects of general legal practice. This position maintains professionalism and strict confidentiality in all client and Firm matters.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: include the following, together with other duties that may be assigned:

• Answering incoming calls, greeting clients and scheduling appointments.
• Creation of new clients and/or matters in Tabs and/or My Case.
• Draft correspondence and legal documents in all aspects of general legal practice as requested.
• Serving as a witness or notary of legal documents.
• Creation of new client/matter numbers in Tabs and My Case, including physical files.
• Track and input billable time into billing system.
• Maintain library materials.
• Assist with closing client files and offsite file storage requests and returns.
• Assist Firm Administrator with supply inventory and supply ordering.
• Additional tasks as requested.

 

Qualifications:

• 2-5 years legal support experience
• New York State Notary.
• Excellent written, verbal, proofreading skills.
• Ability to work independently, with minimal supervision
• Ability to multi-task and work part of a team
• Must be highly organized, detail oriented and have effective time management skills.
• Experience with MS Office 365 (Word, Excel and Outlook)

Salary Range:  $19.50 - $23.00 per hour
