Hon. Raymond E. Cornelius is featured speaker at an MCBA seminar - "Contempt Under the Judiciary Law"

Retired Supreme Court Justice and McConville, Considine attorney Raymond E. Cornelius will be the featured speaker at a continuing legal education ("CLE") program sponsored by the Monroe County Bar Association on Tuesday, December 9, 2008. The CLE will address the subject of "Contempt Under the Judiciary Law."

Following retirement on January 1, 2007, Justice Cornelius became associated, as counsel, with the law firm of McConville, Considine, Cooman & Morin, P.C., where he assists the litigation department. He is also a member of the Commercial Panel of the American Arbitration Association, a member of the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority Board of Arbitrators, and a certified Hearing Officer for small claims assessment reviews.

During his judicial career, Justice Cornelius served as Supervising Judge of Family Courts for the Seventh Judicial District, a member of the Litigation Coordinating Panel for the State of New York, member of the Continuing Legal Education Board of the State of New York, and Education Liaison for the Seventh Judicial District to the New York State Judicial Institute.

Justice Cornelius has been involved in many activities related to continuing legal education. These have included the presentation of legal courses for the Judicial Institute, Office of Court Administration, New York State Bar Association, Erie County Bar Association, and Monroe County Bar Association. The subjects of his presentations have included evidence, civil procedure, guardianships and infant settlements. Justice Cornelius is a current member and former Dean of the Monroe County Bar Association's Academy of Law. In 2006 and 2007, Justice Cornelius was a member of delegations to Novgorod, Russia, as part of the Russian American Rule of Law Consortium program, and spoke on the subject of continuing legal education in the United States and expert witness testimony.
