Peter J. Weishaar, Managing Partner at McConville, Considine, Cooman & Morin, P.C. (MCCM), is among eight attorneys at the firm selected for inclusion in the 2026 edition of The Best Lawyers in America®, recognized in each of his primary fields of law: Commercial Litigation; Land Use and Zoning Law; and Municipal Law.

Peter was also named to the 2026 "Lawyer of the Year" award in the area of Municipal Law.  “Lawyer of the Year” recognitions are awarded to individual lawyers with the highest overall peer-feedback for a specific practice area and geographic region.  Only one lawyer is recognized as the “Lawyer of the Year.”

Peter joined MCCM in 1996 as a litigation attorney and has built a broad and impactful practice over nearly three decades.  His current areas of focus include:

• Commercial Litigation, primarily resolving disputes between business owners and defending against employment-related claims, including non-compete agreements.
• Land Use & Zoning Matters, often representing planning and zoning boards, developers, or neighbors—handling cases from initial agency hearings through Article 78 proceedings.
• Municipal Law, advising fire districts, towns, and other local government entities, including defense in tax assessment litigation both as special counsel and long-term general counsel roles.

He assumed the role of Managing Partner in 2014, guiding MCCM’s strategic vision while also continuing to serve key litigation clients.  He also serves as trusted counsel to municipalities, often addressing legal concerns for fire districts, local boards, and other government entities on an ongoing basis.

Peter brings a problem‑solving mindset grounded in narrative craftsmanship: “The best part about being a litigator is that we get to tell our clients’ stories,” he notes—emphasizing the importance of framing complex legal issues in clear and compelling terms.
